Detroit Cheetah Founded
Coach Harry Weaver II launches the Detroit Cheetah to help young athletes earn college scholarships through track and field. The program quickly becomes a national pipeline for collegiate sprinters.

OKC Chapter Launched
Founding coach Rodney Burkes — now coaching at Utah State — and two-time Olympian Coach Melvin Lister III open the Oklahoma City chapter, expanding the Cheetah family across the state. Two cities, one family.
